Auto Locks Service
Auto locks have been around almost as long as the automobile itself and as long as there have been auto locks, people have been accidentally locking themselves out of their vehicles. Of course it probably wasn’t easy finding someone to help unlock your car door back then either. You may have had to use the old standby coat hanger method to fish open your lock or if all else failed, break the door window.
If you find yourself locked out of your vehicle, you need to remain calm and use your head when allowing anyone claiming to be a locksmith to work on your auto locks. Ask for identification and don’t feel offended when he asks to see your driver’s license. He is only doing his job. It’s important that he knows he’s giving you, the owner, access to the vehicle. If he doesn’t follow this procedure, don’t allow him to work on your vehicle.
Ask for an estimate upfront. Most auto locks services have a set fee for lockouts and if that is all you need the actual cost should be the same as the estimate. If the locksmith refuses to give you an estimate do not allow him to do the work. There are some disreputable companies whose sole purpose is to take advantage of stranded motorists and will jack the price up many times over the original quote. No legitimate locksmith will do this and will be happy to give you an estimate upfront.
It’s still not a pleasurable experience to be locked out of your vehicle but it’s a comfort knowing there’s an auto lock service waiting to help you out.
